What the add-ons do
Reporting tools such as Fathom, Spotlight Reporting and Syft connect to QuickBooks or Xero and turn the numbers into dashboards, trend charts and board-style reports. Cash flow tools such as Float add forecasting. Receipt capture tools such as Dext pull data from bills and receipts into the books. Each is a separate company with its own pricing and terms, and MCC Solutions is not affiliated with any of them.
When they are worth paying for
When more than one person reads the numbers, when a lender or investor asks for regular reporting, when you manage cash tightly, or when receipts are a monthly bottleneck. If you are a one-person business that reads one profit and loss each month, the standard reports in your accounting software are usually enough.
What they cannot fix
An add-on reads what is in your books. If transactions are miscategorized or reconciliations are behind, the dashboard will show confident charts of wrong numbers. Clean books come first, and we fix them before connecting anything.
What to confirm before you buy
Which accounting software and plans it connects to. Whether the connection is read-only. What it costs at your size and how the price changes as you grow. Who owns the account and the data if you leave. What happens to your reports if the connection breaks.
How we handle them
We recommend an add-on only when it answers a question you actually ask. If you choose one, we connect it to the file you own, check the first reports against the standard ones, and keep the monthly close the same.
Common questions
Do I need an add-on to see my numbers?
No. QuickBooks Online and Xero both include standard reports that cover most needs.
Can an add-on replace a bookkeeper?
No. It reports on the books but does not do the categorizing and reconciling that make the numbers right.
Do you resell these tools?
No. We do not resell software. We help you decide whether one fits and set it up.
