Check if one already exists
Search for your business name and address. Google often creates profiles on its own. If one exists, claim it instead of making a duplicate. If someone else controls it, use Google's ownership request.
Use your real business name
Enter the name exactly as it appears on your sign, invoices and website. Adding keywords or a city to the name violates Google's guidelines and can get the profile suspended.
Choose categories carefully
The primary category matters most. Pick the one that describes your core business, then add a few accurate secondary categories. Look at what competitors who rank well use.
Address and service areas
If customers visit you, show your address. If you travel to customers, you can hide the address and list the areas you serve. Do not list a P.O. box or a virtual office as a storefront. Check Google's current rules on eligibility.
Verify
Google decides the method: postcard, phone, email, text or video. Follow the steps shown and keep the profile accurate while you wait.
Complete everything
Add hours, phone, website, a short honest description, services and real photos of your work and location. Keep holiday hours updated.
Maintain it
Answer reviews, post updates occasionally and keep details current. An outdated profile loses trust quickly.
Common questions
How long does verification take?
From instant to a couple of weeks, depending on the method Google offers.
Can I have more than one profile?
Only for real, separate locations that meet Google's rules. Do not create duplicates.
