Is this job posting real?

Paste a posting and see how likely it is to be a ghost job: one with no real opening behind it. You get a rating and the reasons.

How it works

What the check looks for

  • Age. A posting that has been up for 30 or 60 days or more is less likely to be actively filled.
  • Talent-pool wording. Phrases like "future opportunities," "always hiring" or "join our network" describe collecting resumes, not one open job.
  • Closed notices. Some pages still show a job after it says applications are closed.
  • Staffing and confidential employers. Not always a problem, but these postings are sometimes used to gather resumes.
  • Missing details. No pay range, no named employer or very little about the work is a warning sign.
  • Where the link goes. A posting on the employer's own application system is a better sign than a copy on a job aggregator.

Each one adds to the risk score. You see the reasons, so you can judge for yourself rather than trust a number.

FAQ

About this check

What is a ghost job?

A posting with no real opening behind it. Companies sometimes leave jobs up to collect resumes, look busy, or keep a pipeline warm, and some postings simply stay online after the job is filled.

How does the check work?

It reads the posting for known signals: how old it is, wording about talent pools or future openings, a closed or expired notice, staffing or confidential employers, missing pay, thin detail, mismatched experience for entry-level roles, and whether the link is the employer's own application system or an aggregator.

Is a Low result a promise the job is real?

No. Nobody outside the company can see whether it is really hiring. The result is an estimate from the posting itself. Before you spend hours on an application, look for the same job on the company's own careers page.

Is my posting saved?

No. It is checked and discarded, and no AI is used. Nothing is stored.
