Notary Contractor Jobs in Virginia

We are adding commissioned notaries in Virginia as independent contractors, with no minimums and pay shown up front.

How it works

Notary work in Virginia

In-person work is concentrated in New Jersey for now. A Virginia application goes into our pool for remote sessions and for in-person assignments as they open up in Virginia. We do not have an office in Virginia. Before we assign any remote session we confirm with you what Virginia requires of its notaries. This is general information, not legal advice. The larger cities in Virginia that our pages cover include Richmond, Virginia Beach.

What you need

Requirements

  • An active notary commission in Virginia, with at least 60 days left
  • Errors and omissions (E&O) insurance of at least $100,000
  • A background check completed in the last 12 months
  • A W-9 and a signed independent contractor agreement
  • A smartphone and email, and a printer for loan documents if you want in-person loan work
  • For remote work: approval on the Proof platform and a computer with a webcam and microphone

What it pays

Pay and terms

Pay is per assignment at 50% of the customer's service fee. On New Jersey assignments that is $37.50 for a mobile notary visit, $75 for a loan signing and $62.50 for a hospital or care-facility visit. Your exact pay is shown before you accept each job, and we confirm pay with you before any Virginia assignment. This is independent contractor work with a 1099 at year end.

This page is not legal advice. Honest note: we are a young company, and we keep the team small so the contractors who join early get the work as it grows.

FAQ

Virginia notary contractor questions

Can I apply if I am commissioned in Virginia?

Yes. Your Virginia commission, E&O and background check are checked before approval.

Is there work in Virginia right now?

That depends on demand, and we do not promise it. New Jersey is our main in-person market, so jobs in Virginia come as clients there ask.

What does it cost to join?

Nothing. We never charge to apply or to join. You pay for your own commission, E&O insurance and background check.

Do you have an office in Virginia?

No. MCC Solutions is based in Cranford, New Jersey, and we do not have an office outside it. Contractors work from where they live.
