How it works
Bookkeeping work from Maryland
Each client engagement is a monthly routine of categorizing, reconciling and reporting, done in QuickBooks Online, Xero or whatever the client already uses. We are a young firm and take a limited number of contractors, so we do not promise a volume of work. We do not have an office in Maryland, and the work is done online. The larger cities in Maryland that our pages cover include Baltimore, Frederick.
Maryland's economy leans on manufacturing, retail services, public administration, real estate, higher education, information technology, defense contracting, health care and biotechnology, and clients in those fields often need steady monthly books.
What you need
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online, Xero or similar software
- Comfort with monthly reconciliations and clear client communication
- A computer, a reliable internet connection and a private place to work
- Willingness to keep client information confidential
- A W-9 and a signed independent contractor agreement
- Familiarity with Maryland filings is a plus, not a requirement
What it pays
Pay and terms
Rates are discussed on a short call and confirmed in writing before you take on any client. We do not have a posted rate. This is independent contractor work with a 1099 at year end, and you choose what you accept.
This page is not legal advice. Honest note: we are a young company, and we keep the team small so the contractors who join early get the work as it grows.
FAQ
Maryland bookkeeper contractor questions
Do I need a certification?
Not required. We look for real hands-on experience, and credentials such as QuickBooks ProAdvisor are a plus.
What Maryland filings come up?
Maryland's sales and use tax is administered by the Comptroller of Maryland. We confirm the current rate and your filing schedule on your own Comptroller account. Familiarity helps, and we confirm the details for each client.
Is there work right now?
That depends on client demand, and we do not promise it.
What does it cost to join?
Nothing. We never charge to apply or to join.
